Today, Maya assisted me as I finished building the front door to her play house. Only the hardware and paint remain. I am happy just to share her company while I am working, but when she anticipates the next tool I will need and has it ready to hand to me, I am overwhelmed with pride and joy.
This weekend is the Tomato and Corn Festival down at Verrill’s Farm. Dozens and dozens of varieties to sample. Maya rode a pony, but I missed the shot (and am not too happy about that).
Nicolai is still in Minnesota, but we have had John Quinn all week to keep the child headcount at three. This morning, the kids and I had breakfast at Helen’s.
Nicolai returned this evening from an extended stay on Nantucket with his good friend Chloe and her family. Apparently, in the absence of gymnastic apparatus, Nico makes due with a local jeep. Photo courtesy of Chloe’s mom, also an avid photographer. Nicolai reports that he had a fantastic time. I must make a note to ask about the story behind this photo tomorrow morning before Nico heads off to Minnesota with his cousins.
Alissa returned with Rachel to Albany this afternoon before the storms hit. Johnny will spend the night here before leaving for Minnesota with Nicolai, Rory, Mario, Frank, and Angela. Maya and Mario conduct the traditional chasing of the departing car ritual.
